The Antioxidant Effect, Cell Viability and the Effect to the Gene Expression Using cDNA Microarray Assay of Shogunjungtang-ga younggolmorea

Abstract
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of SG-YM on antioxidant effect, cell viability and the expression of genes in human stomach cancer cells.
Methods : Antioxidant effect of SG-YM was compared with that of vitamin C on DPPH radical, respectively. Cell viability was determiend by MTT assay. Finally, gene expression was evaluated by cDNA microarray assay.
Results :
1. Scavenging effect of SG-YM on DPPH treated cells were demonstrated by differential antioxidant effect in SG-YM-treated group at the dose of 10 and lmg/ml.
2. Cell viability was increased in SG-YM-treated group at the dose of lmg/ml.
3. Among 8000 unigenes, 208 genes were upregulated while 90 genes were downregulated by SG-YM treatment on human stomach cancer cell line.
Conclusions : Collectively, these results can be used as basic data for development of new anticancer drugs or treatment.
